“Police Officer Killed in Bus Accident on Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway: ASI Hasan from Manikganj District Court”

A tragic incident occurred on Friday morning when a police officer lost his life in a bus accident on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Tongi, Gazipur. The officer, identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Hasan from the Manikganj district court, was on his way to Tongi for Bishwa Ijtema duty when the accident took place.

Reports suggest that ASI Hasan was riding his motorcycle towards Ijtema duty when a Balaka Paribahan bus collided with him from behind in the Millgate area of Tongi East police station. The impact of the collision left him severely injured and in critical condition.

With swift action from the authorities, ASI Hasan was immediately rescued and rushed to Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital. However, due to the severity of his injuries, he was later referred to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR), also known as Dhaka Pangu Hospital. Tragically, despite efforts to save his life, ASI Hasan succumbed to his injuries at NITOR.

SI Amir Hamza from the police control room of Manikganj district police was also injured in the accident. However, the extent of his injuries has not been disclosed yet.

The incident has raised concerns about road safety on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway. The stretch of road where the accident occurred is known for its heavy traffic and has witnessed several accidents in the past. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, and legal action will be taken against the bus driver once the investigation is complete, according to Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mustafizur Rahman of Tongi East police station.

The loss of a dedicated police officer in this tragic accident has left the law enforcement community and the local community in shock. The incident serves as a reminder of the risks that police officers face in the line of duty and highlights the importance of road safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
