Man Arrested for Stealing U-Haul Truck and Driving Wrong Way on San Bernardino County Freeway
A man, identified as David Robert Sikora, 37, has been arrested after allegedly stealing a U-Haul truck and driving the wrong way on a San Bernardino County freeway. The Victorville Police Station reported the incident.
The incident began on January 31 when officers received reports of a stolen box truck from a local U-Haul business. The following day, the stolen truck was spotted near Seventh Street and La Paz in Victorville.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing Sikora driving the wrong way on surface streets before entering the southbound lanes of the 15 Freeway, continuing to drive in the wrong direction. Authorities were alerted and began pursuing Sikora.
Eventually, the stolen truck was abandoned along a freeway on-ramp near the Mojave Drive exit. A witness informed the arriving officers that Sikora had been seen running into a nearby convenience store. He was eventually located and taken into custody.
Sikora now faces charges of evading police, vehicle theft, and possession of a stolen vehicle. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
