Wesley Allen Ducheneaux, 29, Struck and Killed by Brightline Train in Indian River County.

A man who was crossing the tracks in Indian River County, Florida, was tragically struck by a Brightline train on Monday night. The incident happened shortly before ten of the clock at night. A Brightline train conductor called 911 to report the collision with a pedestrian in distress.

Unfortunately, the accident happened north of Highlands Drive and U.S. Highway 1. Because of safety concerns, pedestrian access to this specific area is strictly prohibited, according to Sergeant Kevin Jaworski of the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office. Furthermore, the dim lighting in the area made the risks that people were taking on when they ventured onto the tracks even worse.

The victim is a 29-year-old Vero Beach resident named Wesley Allen Ducheneaux. The train was moving in the opposite direction, toward Orlando, and Ducheneaux was walking south on the tracks. Sadly, there was no chance of survival due to the collision’s high speed of 120 mph.

There were about 61 passengers on the train at the time of the incident. They were swiftly moved to another Brightline train after the crash, guaranteeing their safety and reducing any possible delays to their travel.

In a tragic turn of events, a local woman flagged down a deputy in a desperate attempt to find her boyfriend, who had vanished following an argument. It was determined by the investigators that the man who was killed in the collision was, in fact, the woman’s boyfriend.

An investigation has been initiated by the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office to ascertain the circumstances leading up to the death. The question being investigated by the authorities is whether the incident was a tragic accident or a planned act of self-harm.

This terrifying incident serves as a clear warning about the risks involved in trespassing on railroad tracks. Wesley Allen Ducheneaux passed away tragically, leaving the community in mourning and reinvigorating efforts to ensure the safety of nearby train passengers as well as pedestrians.
