In a distressing incident that unfolded on a quiet Saturday night in Granada Hills, four individuals were discovered dead from gunshot wounds. The Los Angeles police Department (LAPD) has indicated that the incident, which took place in a house located on Lerdo Avenue, is likely a case of murder-suicide.
The Unfolding of the Disturbing Scene
It was around 6:50 p.m. when the LAPD officers, responding to reports of gunfire, arrived at the scene. On knocking the front door and receiving no response, the police had to force entry into the house. Inside, they found four bodies and one surviving witness who guided the officers to the lifeless victims.
Details of the Victims and Suspected Perpetrator
The victims were identified as two individuals in their late 40s – a man and a woman – and a woman in her 80s. The fourth individual, suspected to be the perpetrator, was an elderly man in his 80s. He was found elsewhere in the house, dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. It’s been confirmed by the authorities that all the victims were related. The witness, who has not been identified as a family member, was the only one spared in this grim incident.
Investigation Continues Amidst Shock and Grief
The circumstances leading to this tragic incident remain murky. LAPD continues to investigate, with the initial hypothesis leaning towards a murder-suicide. LAPD Capt. Kelly Muniz said, “When you have four persons who are deceased, the only positive point is that you at least have one witness who has survived this incident.”
