In a heart-wrenching incident in Canarsie, Brooklyn, a young life was abruptly cut short. A 14-year-old boy tragically lost his life in a horrifying multi-vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of East 81st Street and Glenwood Road.
The Fatal Incident
The tragic incident transpired at around 6 p.m. on a Saturday. Emergency services were alerted to the accident via a 911 call. Upon their arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of the young victim, bearing severe trauma.
The incident was the result of a chain-reaction crash involving a 2018 Mercedes-Benz and a 2017 GMC Canyon. The driver of the Mercedes-Benz was reportedly speeding westbound on Glenwood Road and approached the intersection at an unsafe speed just as the GMC was heading south on East 81st Street.
The two vehicles collided in the intersection, setting off a terrifying sequence of events. One of the vehicles spun around, tragically striking the 14-year-old pedestrian in its path. The force of the impact catapulted the boy into a third, parked vehicle, leaving him with severe head and body injuries.
Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, the boy could not be saved and was pronounced dead. The horrifying incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of reckless driving.
The Mercedes-Benz operator, identified as 45-year-old Rayan Salmon, was subsequently arrested for operating a motor vehicle without a license.
The deceased, a 14-year-old boy, was a resident of the local area. The loss of his young life has left the community in shock and grief. His identity has been withheld due to his minor age.
