Tragic Pennsylvania House Fire Claims Lives of Paul Garman, Cynthia Weatherholtz and 7-Year-Old Kristi Dougherty: Investigation Underway

A devastating house fire in Eastern Pennsylvania has tragically claimed the lives of three individuals, identified as two adults and a 7-year-old girl. The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday in North Londonberry Township, near Palmyra.

Identifying the Victims

As reported by the Dauphin County Coroner’s office, the deceased include 87-year-old Paul Garman, a resident of North Londonderry Township; 60-year-old Cynthia Weatherholtz; and 7-year-old Kristi Dougherty, both from Swatara Township in Dauphin County. The cause of their deaths remains under investigation, with autopsies scheduled for the upcoming Tuesday.

The Unfortunate Event

Emergency services were notified of the fire shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Sunday and rushed to the scene. The victims were transported to Hershey Medical Center, where they were later pronounced dead, according to Chief Kevin Snyder of the North Londonderry Township Police Department.

Additional Casualties

Surviving members of the family revealed that two more adults and a child were also present during the incident. They were rushed to Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center, though their current condition has not been disclosed. The coroner’s office has not yet confirmed if there is a familial connection between the deceased and the injured.

Investigation Underway

The cause of the devastating fire is currently under investigation by the State Police Fire Marshal’s Office. Chief Snyder noted in a statement to the Lebanon Daily News that initial findings suggest the blaze began in the garage of the family home.

Paul Garman, one of the victims, was a respected member of the North Londonderry Township community. He spent his life serving his community and was known for his kindness and generosity. Cynthia Weatherholtz, a loving mother and dedicated teacher from Swatara Township, was adored by her students and colleagues. The youngest victim, Kristi Dougherty, was a bright and vibrant 7-year-old who was beloved by all who knew her. Their untimely demise has left a significant void in the hearts of those who knew them.
