Teenager’s Tragic Death in Prince George’s County Sparks Police Investigation
In a shocking incident in Prince George’s County, Maryland, a teenager was tragically gunned down in his car last Tuesday evening. The authorities have confirmed that the victim was not randomly targeted and are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the perpetrator(s).
The Prince George’s County Police received a distress call around 11.20 p.m. on January 9th, leading them to a single-car crash on the 5300 block of Sheriff Road in Capitol Heights. On arrival, they discovered an 18-year-old male in the car, critically injured from a gunshot wound.
Despite the swift response of the emergency services, the young victim, later identified as Olamide Olakanye from Upper Marlboro, succumbed to his injuries shortly after being admitted to the hospital.
Post-event investigations revealed that Olakanye was shot at a different location—the 1200 block of Dunbar Oaks Drive. It appears that, in an attempt to escape the scene, he ended up crashing his vehicle into a wooded area on Sheriff Road.
The police are currently devoid of any suspects in custody but are continuing their investigation into this deadly shooting that has left the local community in shock. Detectives are tirelessly working to piece together the events leading up to this tragic incident, determine a motive, and identify the suspect(s) involved.
