The attempted robbery occurred around 10:16 p.m. on East 79th Street, a busy commercial area of Chatham. Shadi Mohammad Suleimen Almomani, the unfortunate victim, had just finished his late-night shift at the Half Moon grocery store and was in an alley near the store when an unidentified man approached him with the apparent intention of robbing him.

The Consequences

Tragically, the situation escalated quickly, with the assailant firing shots that hit Almomani in the head. The 43-year-old father of four was declared dead at the scene by the authorities. This tragic incident has left his friends and family in a state of shock and mourning.
